LIBERTY NEWS TV responds to a chain letter accusing Senator Barack Obama of being the so-called Antichrist of the Book of Revelation
[We Received the following Mean Spirited Chain Letter. In the interest of fairness and balance, we did some fact checking. Here's the letter, complete with grammatical errors:
The Letter Stated:
"According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is:
The anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will
deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE
Christ-like appeal.....the prophecy says that people will flock to him
and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is
in power, will destroy everything .."
Is it OBAMA??"
In short, the answer is no. Why?
1. Muslims? Sorry, Wrong Century
At the time Revelation (not the improperly spelled Revelations) was written,
somewhere between 69 A.D., during the reign of the Emperor Nero, and about 300
A.D., the religion of Islam (aka muslims) did not exist. Mohammed was not even
born until the 7th Century A.D.
2. Of Muslim Descent? No Such Warning.
There is no mention of any being "of Muslim descent" anywhere in Revelation.
Incidentally, Barack Obama is not a muslim. He belongs to the Trinity United
Church of Christ in Chicago.
AntiChrist? None Mentioned
3. There is no reference to ANY Antichrist anywhere int the Book of Revelation.
The book describes a multi-headed dragon, but never an Anti-christ.
4. A Man in his 40s?
Nowhere in Revelation is any such description given.
We're not sure who is behind these malicious letters, but the writers may want to be reminded of the following ACTUAL biblical quotation.
THE 9th COMMANDMENT
Exodus 20:16 "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour."
