“Blue State” News, Politics, and the Arts Meet for an Exclusive “Red State” Film Premier

Portland, Maine – August 1, 2005. Liberty News TV joins AmeriCo Productions for an evening with award winning political filmmaker Chris Hume. Hume’s exclusive Maine film premier of Red State Road Trip will take place in Portland on August 18th.

Produced in Portland, Liberty News TV is a progressive television and Internet news program that presents stories and viewpoints that are ignored or under-reported by corporate-owned media outlets such as FOX and CNN. Viewers can watch this monthly news show online at www.LibertyNewsTV.com and on television stations across the country, including local channel 2 in Portland, Thursday through Sunday.

Also Portland born, AmeriCo Productions holds a monthly political cabaret “Speaking the Unspeakable: A Totally Biased and Slanted Look at the World We Live in Today.” Cabarets are held at Geno’s every third Thursday of the month, and are a mixture of readings, performances, and other creative jaunts through the world of politics. Topics include issues of national, state, local, social, and other political concern, translated through various types of creative expression.

When Liberty News TV heard that one of their own correspondents, Los Angeles filmmaker Chris Hume, was working with AmeriCo Productions to premier his latest film right here in Portland, an interesting coincidence led to an important partnership.

Liberty News TV has offered to help sponsor AmeriCo’s presentation of Red State Road Trip, a 6000 mile journey into the heart of America. In the aftermath of the 2004 Presidential elections, it was time to find out how ordinary Americans felt about the state of the county. On Inauguration Day 2005, filmmaker Chris Hume set out in search of America’s soul. He interviewed dozens of regular folks. This is their story.

Chris Hume has been making political documentaries and socially relevant fiction films for more then 20 years. His films speak the “voice of the people” with wit, charm, and daring. He has been described as a “kinder and gentler Michael Moore.” His ability to draw out the true thoughts and feelings of the people he encounters produces a fascinating, highly entertaining, and often hilarious view of the world.

This exclusive Maine film premier and meet the artist will take place at Geno’s, (formerly The Skinny), 625 Congress Street, Portland, Maine, Thursday August 18th at 9:00 PM.
